Stephanie and Conor’s Laid-Back Wedding Celebration at Plattduetsche Park
Stephanie & Conor’s Wedding Celebration
at Plattduetsche Park
Stephanie and Conor’s wedding day was a true reflection of their laid-back, fun, and real personalities. They’ve come a long way from high school, where Conor had a crush on Stephanie, but she only knew him because of his airplane announcements. Fast forward to 2018, and they finally connected on Tinder. Their first date at Bunker Hill in Wantagh lasted five hours, and although Stephanie’s mascara ended up all over her cheeks from laughing so much, she quickly realized that Conor was the real deal.
The wedding celebration took place at Plattduetsche Park, a venue that was perfect for their no-fuss style. They didn’t go over the top with a bunch of fancy vendors—keeping things simple but fun. There was no wedding planner or videographer, but they had all the essentials. Heather got to fly solo and rock their photography which was so fun. Body Rock Entertainment was in charge of the music, keeping the crowd dancing the whole time. For their first dance, they chose the Pottekes cover of Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
Their wedding celebration was all about making sure their friends and family had an epic time. They wanted a day that felt more like a big, fun celebration than a stiff, formal event, and Plattduetsche Park’s beer hall was the perfect venue to set those laid-back vibes. The place had that relaxed, rustic charm, and it was exactly what the couple envisioned for their big day. No stuffy ballroom, just good times with the people they love. The drinks flowed all afternoon, with guests enjoying plenty of cold German beer and, of course, the infamous "shot skis." There’s something about a shot ski that gets people laughing, and it was a major hit at the reception.
Stephanie kept things easy with a white slip-on Keds dress and tartan shrug, while Conor went all in on the kilt—no jacket, just a black vest and a Sterling green kilt. Their rings weren’t traditional either; they opted for tattoos to mark their commitment. And though they didn’t spend a fortune on decor, they made it their own with a simple “Mrs. & Mrs. Barnes” sign and light-up letters from Alpha-Lit.
The couple didn’t just rely on grand gestures to show their love, though. Their relationship has always been about patience, forgiveness, and the little things that make the day-to-day special. And speaking of little things, they both agreed that their first kiss was one for the books. After a night of laughs and barking at strangers (yes, you read that right), Conor kissed her on a rooftop in Bayside, and it felt like the world stopped for a second. The song playing in the background? Who knows, but it definitely felt like a movie moment.
Looking ahead, they’re excited for the future and all it holds—especially the family they plan to start. When asked about the future, Stephanie replied, “I want all the babies.” With a love like theirs, you just know it’s going to be an adventure full of laughter and a whole lot of fun. The whole vibe was light, carefree, and totally in sync with who they are as a couple, which is always so refreshing to photograph because I can really have fun with more creative and candid photos!
